About Us

Beldon Education Support Centre (ESC) is in the ancient country of the Whaduk Nyoongar people, who have walked, lived, and cared (and continue to care) for this land for at least 45,000 years. We are an Independent Public Specialist Primary School for students with special educational needs located with our partner school, Beldon Primary School, on the south side of Ocean Reef Road. Whilst Beldon Education Support Centre (ESC) was established in 1985 as a stand-alone building on the Beldon Primary School site, we now foster a seamless connection between the two schools in the form of common school policies and administrative practices, as well as shared facilities, teaching expertise, and events. The partnership provides students at both schools with extraordinary learning opportunities across the combined campus. As a school of choice, Beldon ESC has no local catchment area and students living in neighboring suburbs enrol with us. Students can apply for transport assistance via the School Bus Service and there is further information about accessing this service available on our website.

At Beldon ESC we believe that when a student feels nurtured and safe, they can thrive on their learning journey. Our school enables every child to have access to a high-quality education via individual programming. Our experienced multidisciplinary team includes special needs teachers, general primary teachers, allied professionals, a school chaplain, a school psychologist, consulting therapists, and school administrators. We have a high staff-to-student ratio empowering all students to achieve their personal goals. We value the partnerships we have with the parents and wider school community, including therapy providers. Collaboration is vital to ensure student success. The staffing group at Beldon ESC recognises that collective professional efficacy will foster quality teaching and learning for all students. We recognise that each student is “an individual” with a unique style of learning, communicating, building relationships, and making decisions. To ensure our teaching programs are meeting our students’ needs we use Person-Centered planning tools and focus on the student’s strengths and aspirations. The school ethos, “Aspire to go Beyond” is well established and well regarded, as evidenced by a rapid growth in enrolments and reflects the school’s commitment to ensuring all students fulfil their potential. The tone of our centre is best described as caring, quiet and steady, with a clear focus on individualised instruction to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.
